San Jorge University participates in a European research project which aim is to develop a pedagogic and didactic model for guiding primary students to an autonomous reflection about pluralism in Europe and, that way, encouraging a vision of multicultural and multireligious citizenship.

Research actions and their results will be carried out in the next two years with the financing of the European Union as a part of Erasmus+, and it’s oriented to the deep analysis of the perspective of religious education in those countries involved in the project. In this sense, needs in schools about how to integrate religions plurality in the pedagogic method will be identified.

According to the teacher María Luisa Sierra, the project in Spain “is an opportunity for schools from Zaragoza and for religion teachers in primary education for participating in a European project, sharing teacher experiences and getting to know teaching and learning methodologies of other religion teachers of primary school from Greece, Italy, Bulgaria and Turkey”.

Every country with their research teams will make a conceptual framework which will analyze the history and legal principles controlling religious education in the country. And pedagogical perspectives used in religion teaching will be addressed in a second level.

After, in a last phase of the project, Spanish teachers that have participated in these two focus groups will have two trainings: the first one in Italy and, the second one, in Greece, where, as María Luisa Sierra said, “they will have the opportunity to get to know the rest of the teachers that have participated in each country”.

The project Learning Interculturality from religion (LIFE, 2016-1-IT02-KA201-024660) is leaded by Fondazione Hallgarten-Franchetti Centro Studi Villa Montesca (Italy) with the European support of San Jorge University (Spain), Sdruzhenie “Centar Za Obrazovatelni Initsiativi (Bulgaria), Kinonikes Sineteristikes Drastiriotites Efpathon Omadon (Greece) and Egitim Ve Genclik Calismalari Enstitusu Dernegi (Turkey).

Project activities will be presented on the next 26th June at 13h in San Jorge University campus. The presentation will be open to anyone interested in the project. www.life-erasmus.eu/
