This week we have received a visit from Bjørk Boye Busch, Jákup Wenningstedt Hansen and Per Dahlstrøm, lecturers at the Lillebaelt Academy of Professional Higher Education in Denmark, one of our Erasmus+ partners, who have visited San Jorge in order to design and plan a mutual exchange programme with our Polytechnic School.

Last week we held a farewell party for the incoming exchange students who have been at San Jorge during the second semester of the 2014-2015 academic year.

Harvey Anderson, Lecturer in Sport Coaching and Physical Education at Sheffield Hallam University has spent this week with our Physiotherapy and Sports Sciences programmes. Harvey is also a professional cricket player and has led sessions on the biomechanics of cricket aimed at both Physiotherapy and Sports Sciences students. Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the UK, behind football and rugby, and Harvey was keen to introduce the basics to our students.

One of the objectives in these first two years of the new internationalisation strategy of the University has been to establish exchange agreements with UK universities. The United Kingdom is a popular destination for our students thanks to the prestige of its university system and of course because a stay allows students to develop their English language skills.

Nicholas Samaras, lecturer in the Department of Informatics Technology and Telecommunications at the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaly in Greece has spent this week at our Polytechnic School through the Erasmus+ programme. His current research interests include Networked Control Systems, Wireless Sensor Network applications and Optimization Methods for Communication Networks.

Our colleague from the San Jorge Legal Department, Paula Tobajas, has recently spent an Erasmus+ training exchange at Université Paris-Est Marne-La-Vallée, one of our partner universities in France.

Students on our Masters in Investigation for Health Sciences were offered an international vision of healthcare last week when they received the visit of Jayne Masters. Jayne is a qualified nurse and specialist in Cardiology and is Director of the Cardiology Unit of University Hospitals, Southampton in the UK. She is currently carrying out research into heart disease towards her PhD at the University of Southampton.

It's a busy time of year for international teaching exchanges. Our colleague Carlota Gómez, lecturer in our Pharmacy programme has recently spent an exchange period at the University of Helsinki in Finland thanks to the Erasmus+ programme. She is pictured (right) in one of the University's laboratories with Dr. Pia Vourela, Vice Dean of the Pharmacy degree at Helskinki.

Canadian freelance lecturer Dr. Peter Goth has visited San Jorge today to take part in a seminar on International Finance organized by our School of Governance and Leadership (Escuela de Gobierno y Liderazgo).
